Co-op Roles: Stop Taking the Same Job

A simple co-op coordination rule: assign jobs before rarity, then pick loadouts that cover different failure modes. Framed for patch 1.0.466.

Co-op balance depends on room pressure, player execution, and current patch behavior. This guide gives roles, not a promise that one pair is always best.

1. Assign a damage job and a safety job

One player can own sustained single-target pressure; the other can prioritize crowd control, elements, bombs, or recovery. The exact Hunter matters less than making the jobs different.

2. Share a weakness, not every item

A Sub Weapon is useful when The Lovers or another shared effect gives it a real job. Do not duplicate the same element and trigger just because both offers are rare.

3. Call the economy decision

Before the shop, say whether the team is saving, rerolling for a missing function, or buying immediate survival. Two players spending on different plans is an invisible difficulty modifier.

4. Review the team failure

After a failed run, label the missing job: no crowd answer, no boss answer, no safe delivery, or no economy. Change the role assignment before changing every item.

Before you commit

  • Who handles crowds?
  • Who handles the priority target?
  • What is the shared decision at the next shop?

Put the method into the tool

Open the planner with the Hunter, weapon, and candidates on your screen. It will show conflicts and a fallback direction.
