Review record: 1.0.499 · 2026-08-24
12 official changes checked; No direct dependency was found in the published scope.
Released 2026-08-19. Everything in the change table below is quoted from the official patch notes; the route interpretation is ours and should be checked in-game. developer announcement。
The developer says several Frost Relics lost damage when Armor was consumed during combat. The new effects snapshot Armor when combat begins, while Frost Heavy Armor refunds consumed Armor after combat and Flash-Freeze Round doubles Frost combat-entry effects.
What changed
| Item | Change | What it means for your build |
|---|---|---|
| Pet system and temporary backpack Added | After obtaining a pet, talk to it to open a temporary backpack. | Adds temporary inventory space and a new storage decision. Confirm what must be removed before the temporary backpack closes. |
| Run Seed Added | The current run seed is visible in the in-game menu and can be applied at the flowerpot on the left side of camp. | Makes repeatable route and build comparisons possible when the same seed is reused. |
| Damage breakdown Added | The damage details panel now shows the damage composition of the current build. | Use it to verify which damage line is actually carrying the run instead of inferring DPS from item rarity. |
| Kinetic Orb Reworked | Embarkation grants 1 Armor. On entering combat, each Armor increases Final Damage by 0.5% until combat ends. Forged values are 2 Armor and 1.25% per Armor. | The damage multiplier now snapshots Armor at combat entry, so losing Armor mid-fight no longer reduces that combat's bonus. |
| Fury Armor Reworked | Destination grants 1 Armor. On entering combat, each Armor increases Frost Damage by 0.5% until combat ends. Forged values are 3 Armor and 1% per Armor. | Frost damage now depends on the Armor carried into combat rather than the Armor remaining after taking hits. |
| Storm Ring Reworked | Freeze can critically hit. On entering combat, each Armor grants 1% Freeze Critical Chance until combat ends; the forged value is 3%. | Armor must already be present when combat begins. Crit support matters only when the route applies Freeze repeatedly. |
| Ice Pillar Reworked | On entering combat, grants 3 Armor and gives +30% Transmutation Damage while Armor remains. The forged version grants 7 Armor with the same damage bonus. | It is now a Transmutation-and-Armor bridge rather than a Critical Chance item. |
| Frost Heavy Armor Buffed | Embarkation and Destination each grant 3 Armor, then the end of combat refunds up to 30 Armor consumed in that combat. Forged values are twice-triggered 4 Armor and a 100-Armor refund cap. | Makes Armor recovery between rooms more reliable and supports repeated combat-entry snapshots. |
| Comet Crown Buffed | Keeps its Armor and Ice Meteor effects. On entering combat, each Armor now increases Freeze Damage by 1.5% until combat ends; the forged value is 3.5%. | A much stronger Freeze payoff when Armor is established before combat. Exact route priority still needs repeatable in-game comparison. |
| Heart of the Storm Reworked | Fires an Eye of the Storm every second for 200% Frost Damage. Projectile Count applies, the damage counts as Freeze, and each starting Armor adds 0.5% damage for the combat. Forged values are 500% and 1.2%. | Now connects Frost, Freeze, Armor, and Projectile Count. Recheck any old guide built around the previous five-second vortex behavior. |
| Flash-Freeze Round Reworked | Promoted to Legendary. On entering combat, grants 10 Armor and doubles Frost Relic [When entering combat] effects as a Unique Passive. The forged version grants 25 Armor. | Becomes a Frost combat-entry amplifier. The old Destination threshold advice is obsolete. |
| Update 8.19 bug-fix group Fixed | Fixes Flower Cannon against Alicia phase three, a post-combat snail summon, a cloned-shop-weapon progression block, Story Fragment drops, and Battle Scar: Agitated UI feedback. | Restores the listed encounters and item interactions without adding a new route ranking. |
Build routes that still fit after this patch
- Frost route with the current Armor-entry rules — Freeze and Armor still form a coherent route, but the current priority is to establish Armor before combat and use the new snapshot, refund, and doubling effects.
- Build Planner using the refreshed Steam snapshot — The Planner now exposes the V1.0.503 installed-game text for changed Relics while keeping site-authored route judgments separate.
What to watch after this patch
These are the interactions worth checking in your next runs. Use the practical effects below rather than treating an exact damage number as guaranteed.
- How Flash-Freeze Round's doubling interacts when several Frost Relics have combat-entry effects.
- Whether Projectile Count changes the practical room-clear value of Heart of the Storm enough to reorder Frost picks.
- How much Armor Frost Heavy Armor reliably carries between repeated rooms at normal and forged quality.
How this patch changes build decisions
The Pass the Fear 1.0.499 patch is mainly an interaction fix, not a new route ranking. When your run touches pet backpacks, multiplayer Relic sharing, or the Legendary weapon cooldown interaction, first check whether the bug still reproduces. Do not replace a stable Hunter, element, and weapon together just because the patch title sounds important.
If the fix changes a real choice, record the Hunter, weapon, trigger condition, and game version, then return to the Planner and change one variable at a time. If it has no effect, keep the current route and mark the interaction for observation. That makes a patch page a decision entry point after an update, rather than a news summary detached from the run.
Use a simple reading order: confirm the change in the official table, read the route-impact note, and then verify the trigger in your own run. When the fix does not change the core loop, keep the stable choice from the existing guide. When it does change an interaction, isolate the affected item, route, or Planner setup and review that piece instead of rewriting every build. Keep screenshots, test notes, and the update version together so future edits can distinguish a fixed bug from a changed balance rule.
How to use this page
If a build guide anywhere — including ours — does not name the patch it was written for, it is not telling you enough to act on. Check the version stamp, then check whether anything your damage loop depends on appears in the table above.
Test a revised loadout in the build planner, which scores synergy and flags conflicts, or start from the current best build blueprints. All patch reviews are listed on the patch notes index.
