Disruption Builds: Keep the Lightning Events Coming

Reviewed for Patch 1.0.479Last updated: August 4, 2026

Use Lightning weapons and frequent hit events to build Disruption. Track the 1.0.462 direct-damage change and the current 1.0.479 coil effect before trusting old Lightning advice.

Core mechanism

The current weapon data maps Lightning to Disruption. Lightning Gun is tagged as a Disruption weapon, while Overloaded Coil turns Lightning Damage Bonus into part of the Disruption damage cap. The route therefore wants a weapon that keeps producing Lightning events, then uses frequency support to repeat them.

Best Hunter to start with

Current starting point

Marcus

Marcus's extra-shot and frequency tags make him the most legible Hunter for testing a high-hit Lightning route. This is a testing recommendation, not a measured Disruption ranking.

Evidence boundary

These pages use the current Planner data and patch records. Any strength claim without a public damage test is marked Needs Testing.

How to start early

Start with Lightning Gun when the room needs repeatable Disruption. Thunder Bow is a valid alternative, but its current description asks you to choose between quick crowd spray and a full charge for elites.

Mid-run conditions

Add Fire Rate, Reload Speed, or extra-shot support only when it increases the events your weapon actually produces. Overloaded Coil is a current official anchor; the exact value at different Lightning totals is Needs Testing.

When the core item does not appear

If Lightning support never arrives, keep Vintage Musket and pivot to Marcus's physical extra-shot route. Do not hold an empty relic slot for Overloaded Coil while the current room is already failing.

Boss and room-clear performance

Boss

Disruption now has an official direct-damage line in the 1.0.462 data, and Overloaded Coil adds a current cap interaction. Boss damage is still not measured publicly, so the net result is Needs Testing.

Room clear

Lightning Gun and Thunder Bow both carry crowd tags in the current database. Their crowd strengths differ by firing rhythm; compare the room you are actually losing before swapping weapons.

Common mispicks and conflicts

Thunder Bow's charge rhythm can fight a route that wants constant hits. Thunder Dragon Claw's old pre-1.0.462 multiplier should not be copied as current text, and Quick Fire is explicitly marked Needs Testing in the planner data.

Patches that changed this route

Patch 1.0.462 made Disruption a direct damage event and changed two Thunder Dragon objects. Patch 1.0.479 added the current Overloaded Coil and Shock Round effects. Treat old Lightning rankings as dated guidance.
